Bathroom tile design: using neutral tones in your color decision

Considering redesigning or renovating your bathroom? When it comes to bathroom tile design there are certainly numerous options available, but if you want to maximize your design you might consider using colors that will provide you with the most options. The best designs are often those that are the most flexible, regardless of whether you plan to stay in the home for several more years are you are designing your bathroom for resale.

Bathroom tile design choices with colors that allow for towel, accent and wall color changes in the future can provide a much longer life to your bathroom design without it easily looking dated. Using tiles in a neutral color allows you the flexibility of changing the colors in your bathroom frequently. Neutral colors that will provide the most versatility in bathroom décor and accent colors include grey, white, taupe and beige.

A white bathroom tile design combined with white tiles on the wall can really open up your bathroom and provide you with virtually an endless array of possibilities for accent color choices. The towels, rugs, wall art and other accent pieces can then take center stage in your bathroom with no worries that the tile will overshadow them. You can even choose to tone down white tiles by grouting them with a creamy color such as ivory.

If you happen to be a homeowner who prefers a color for your bathroom tile design other than white but you still want the flexibility remaining neutral offers, consider taupe or beige. These colors are extremely popular right now in bathroom design and the warm tones work well with many other color choices for accent pieces, including blues and greens, reds, yellows and white. If you should decide to change the colors of your accent pieces in the future or even paint the walls a different color, you can easily do so with no worries that the new color will clash with your floor tile.

Yet another neutral option you might not have considered for your bathroom tile design is grey. Grey tiles can provide the flexibility of using other colors in the accent pieces while still remaining elegant and classy. For instance, you might consider using grey for the tile design and then accenting with black and white.

I’m re-decorating my bathroom and I know what I want but I can’t find the tiles that I have in mind…. till now. I saw the grey bathroom with the purple accessories on floor-tiles-design.com and the tiles used in that photo are exactly what I’ve been looking for but can’t find anywhere! Can you tell me which tiles they are and where you can get them from?
    Gemma.
